Today on CNN student news, in Ohio there in a flood. The Ohio River got higher because of the rain. The good thing is that none of the people got kill. Many people are sad/mad that there house got flooded. I feel bad for them.

Then they talk about a school that had no grades but levels. I do not like this idea cause many people aren’t smart and you want be with your same age. I bet many student don’t like this idea.

Today on Cnn student News, they talked about a flood in Ohio. They say that the Ohio River got high as it ever been. I feel bad for the people living there. I hope the floods stop soon.

They also talked Alabama’s tornado. They say that 36 counties have been destroyed. This powerful twister killed many people and left many others without homes. I feel bad for those people that lost their homes but I feel worse for the people that lost someone.

Today on CNN Student News, Carl Azuz talked about how U.S forces searched Osama Bin Laden’s compound, and they found new info. The U.S forces found everything from DVDs to hard drives in his compound. Once they analyze this data, they hope top find clues and information on the next planned terrorist attacks, so they can prevent them from happening. If they do, it will help America be safe and intact.

Also on CNN Student News, Carl Azuz talked about how one school is using an interesting way for children to learn. This school has no grades, now what I mean about that is that there are no grade levels not grades that you get on a test or a pop quiz. Now I know what your thinking, Why are they doing this? Well there principle and staff believe that students shouldn’t be put in school for there age, but rather there learning capacity and on what they know. Now I say that this is a good idea and a bad idea,, I think that it is a good idea because it not only puts the children in there right grade, compared to there skill but it also motivates them to do the best and excel in all of there academics. I think that this is a bad idea because not everyone will agree that children should be put it into there grades according to this, but rather there age and how long they’ve been in school. Well whether it is a good idea in your eyes or a bad one, it is up to you and your own opinion..

Today on cnn, student news Carl azuz talked about breaching and entering.

The Navy SEALS did a secret mission in Abbotbat, Pakistan. They entered a compound where Osama Ben Laden had been staying. They entered, and cleared the compound after a 40-minute firefight. I think they could have done this quicker than they did. They found some things inside, in which they are hoping, would give them evidence for future terrorist attacks.

    The breach

A levee in Ohio had to be breached because the river is flooding homes and other things. They decided to breach the levee. When they breached the levee, it let over 200 square mile of water into the Missouri river. The breach left many farms flooded. I think they should have left the levee alone, because we should fix one state and not ruin another state.

Today on CNN STUDENT NEWS, they talked about how they were doing no grade levels. The no grade levels works by what the students know. They have this see if this works better than having grade levels. Instead, they have in what they know. I think that this is better because that is a way someone can get better and process more.

In addition they talked about how people in Kentucky they were doing the great bed races. People were racing in their beds to see who the best bed driver is! Four people were pushing and one was driving the bed. They had to drive around the codes. Some of them almost flew while they push and turn at the same time. I think that this very funny because the are racing in beds.

    DREAM SCHOOL
We all know the old conventional school it has firs, second, third grades etc. well many believe that this school style is wrong and needs to be changed. How do you change it? Well the answer is really simple. You stop using the grade system. Now we are not talking about the a, b, c grades but yet the 1, 2, 3 grade system where kids change grades due to their knowledge not their age. So with this school you could be in first grade math but be in third grade reading. I am totally behind this idea

I mean I am great at reading and writing but horrible at math. For me this type of schooling would be great because I could learn at the math level I needed but not be held back in my writing. I know many kids who are the same way, they are great at some things but suck at others I wish Avalon could be this type of school. this would help many in the school and actually teach not just show.

Today on Cnn Student News I found out that some of the government was looking through Osama Bin Laden’s hard drives, DVDs, computers, etc.

In Ohio they blew up levees that were holding water back from flooding the whole city. They blew the levees up so it can flow into the Missouri or the Mississippi River, I am not really sure. The water had flooded two-hundred square miles. The people who blew the levees up said they are going to try to fix the homes that had been damaged in the flood.

Also at a school the whole school board came up with a system so every student is not graded by the work they do but by what they know. The students move up a level if they know a lot. It think that is very fair because some students don’t do work and they are really smart to. I would like to be leveled in stead of graded.

  8. Bryant M Says:

Today on CNN student new Carl Azuz talked about Levee Breach . I don’t really think that breaching the walls are going to help the case . Cause what about the people in Missouri now I’m pretty sure they don’t want water coming into there state cause now they might get flooded out .

He also talked about no grades levels I think that is kinda a good idea because most kids now adays don’t pay attention. Cause they get distracted easily by wanting too go outside and play or wanting togo eat or play with blocks.

  9. Laura A. Says:

Today on CNN Student News Carl Azuz talked about how in Alabama and it was the most disaster’s place that a tornado has hit. Thousands had died and thousands have lost there homes.
People who made the Missouri levis are exploding them down. After so many attempts and failed they give up. They say the water is still going up and is wiping a whole city. I think its sad that something had to happen like that. I have friends who live over there in Missouri. Well that’s the end of that CNN Student News.

Today on CNN Student News they talked about a levee in Missouri and the great bed race. The levee that was in Missouri was there to keep the water from flowing into lands farms and towns. The levee blocked the Mississippi river and the Ohio River. The Ohio River had an extremely high level of water in it. The water was getting ready to flow over so they thought why not just blow it up and save the mayhem and panic. I think this was a good idea but also a bad idea because unless they made a path for the water to flow down there would be a lot of stuff destroyed.

Second they talked about the great bed race. This wasn’t any ordinary race, this was a bed race. There would be one person to sit on the bed and steer it while there are four people on the back that have to be the motor. This had to have been fun because there were a lot of people there to watch. If I would have been in this I would have wanted to be the guy on the back so I could be the motor.

On CNN STUDENT NEWS there was a segment about levees. They put explosives on the levees and blew them up. This would flow acres of land and destroy farmland. The water from the Ohio River would cause that to happen but would decrease the flooding caused by the Ohio River. This would mean that one place is benefiting while the other is getting harmed. Somehow this relates to a parasitic relationship.

In a race that is so awesome you don’t need a driver’s license. Instead you need a mattress, 5 people, and some intelligence. 4 people are behind the mattress car pushing the driver while the other person steers. That is my kind of thing. I would go to Kentucky and race there. Ill pimp out my bed and get some reward for winning, because that’s how I roll.

  12. Andrew D. Says:

Today on CNN student news, Osama Bin Leten was finally killed early Monday morning. He was hiding inside a compound by a military city in Pakistan. We entered Pakistan’s airspace without their permission, because we had a felling they would worn Osama. I think the Pakistan has a lot of explaining to do, why did they not report this to us? Ether way, al-Qeata is as mad as a bull seeing red. We must be ready for a counter strike, maybe on the levels of 9-11.

Also on CNN, you know how bad it is to fall asleep when driving right? Well, here is a race where you can. This is the national bed-race! Have your friends push you around the course and ether try to miss all the cones if you can. If you can’t, there is still a reword for messing up the worse. So get on your bed, but try not to get too comfortable.

On this episode of CNN STUDENT NEWS there was a story about school levels instead of grade levels. The new levels are weird they don’t let you be in a group with other people your age. If you are not smart you could be reading with the kindergarteners. I do not think that it is fair for people doing that to these kids.

Also on the before we go segment there was a story about a lazy persons race. The contestants were people that were on mattresses driving down a lane in between cones trying to be the best racer in the whole contest. They even had a prize for the best cone eater. That is all for today.

Today on Cnn student news, a way students can learn at there on level and not get lost and confused in school. It is called a grade list. Instead of being in a Grade level you would be at a level with a very good grade. This is called a grade list. Truethfully, it doesn’t matter about the grade level it only matters if you pass standers based earning and testing. The great [art about this, is that school that have this grade list have a 76% disiplin level drop. I support this all the way! It would make it easier to learn, because you are learning at you own pace.

In addition, The Great Bed Races. In Kentuckie, it is tradition to have a bed race. Someone must be sitting on the mattress contoling the wheels of the vehicle, while 3-4 people are in the back pushing the cart around. You can NOT hit any or the cones, for it is very bad on your score. I would love to do that if I could just sleep on the moving bed. That would be very interesting, yet fun!

  15. alejandro g Says:

Today on cnn they talked about Alabama was hit the hardest by a tornado people are still looking for survivors or people that are dead. Most people still don’t have electricity the Alabama governor is trying to help the people by looking for temporary homes.

The great bed race of Kentucky it’s a bed race that the winner is wins by who ever is the worst driver. I think this is pretty cool that all you need is a bed a steering wheel and some wheels. This looked like it was fun two people had to push you and the driver had to steer.

First up on CNN we took a look at a new grading system – No grades. That’s right, no grades! Instead, the learning levels are based on your skill. If you are bad at math, then your level will stay at level one. So on and so forth. My opinion? I immensely dislike this. Heres my reason why: Grade levels force you to develop your skills. In this system, it is based off what you know. If you don’t understand something in 8th grade, but pass to ninth, your forced to learn it. In this system I see a flaw. If you think something is too hard to learn, you can just not learn it. Doing that you would never develop your skills. Higher grades force you to grow up.

Missouri has been in flooding trouble. What keeps a flood from happening? A levee. So why is the USEC destroying these levee? To flood it of course! But why? Well, what happens when a river fills too high with water? It bursts and spills everywhere. If they blow the levee, the water will take its regular course, going down the river and over flowing little. That little overflow can destroy farms and whatnot, but if it had been left unchecked the flood would rain in massive amounts.

  17. liz Says:

Today on CNN student news they had talked about the disaster Alabama. Thousands of people had lost there homes. Officials are saying they are going to try to find homes for the people who had lost there homes. I think others that are trying to help is a very good idea. People where devastated.

On CNN student news people where racing in beds. They are seeing who could get to the finish line first and not knock over the cones. I think its amusing what there doing. People are trying to sleep there way to the finish line.

  18. Becky W Says:

Today on CNN Student News there was a segment about the levee breach. It turns out they decided to blow it up. It has already flooded some places so they are going to drain it into the Mississippi river. The really bad thing about it is the place where it is flooded is farms so it is going to take a lot of money to get the farming back on track.

Another segment was about the severe weather in Alabama. They are searching for victims to rescue. I hope they find everyone who is lost. That is so horrible to hear about disasters like that.

That is it, for CNN Student News.
